How to Travel with Constraints

When it comes to travelling, it can be both our greatest passion and our greatest regret. For those in the former category, a life of travel is a fulfilling one. For those in the latter category, missed opportunities can weigh us down and prevent us from travelling the world like we want, deep down in our souls. However, many of the factors that prevent us from travelling are merely inconveniences that can be overcome, believe it or not. Here are a few ways to travel when it seems like you just won’t be able to.

First and foremost, there’s the cost. Many of us feel and believe that travel is a luxury we just can’t afford. However, there are plenty of ways to mitigate the costs of travel. For starters, taking shorter trips domestically can drastically reduce the costs of your trip. For example, going to the next state or province over can still be a great trip, but will cost way less than an international flight. Not to mention the fact that it can also serve as a foray into travelling without getting too far outside your comfort zone, as there won’t be any language barrier, and the culture will be similar enough for you to easily relate to new people on your trip.

Another element of our perceived inability to travel is obligation and scheduling. For example, many of us can’t miss work or school in order to get away for a trip. However, all is not lost here, as both jobs and school can be done online and, therefore, are portable, so you don’t have to miss out on travel to make it in life. For example, you can take online classes with Udemy or another similar online school to free yourself up to travel the world without dropping out of college. Likewise, many online jobs are available to give you more freedom without being unemployed.
